Patriot's Pen/VOD Press Release
FALLBROOK VFW HONORS STUDENTS, TEACHER OF THE YEAR VFW Post 1924 and Ladies Auxiliary recently hosted a luncheon to honor students that wrote patriotic essays
and our winner of National Citizenship Education Teacher Award, Mr. Ron Stebner. Mr. Stebner is an 8th grade social
studies teacher at Potter Junior High School and was nominated by Principal Dr. Tere Peterson. Mr. Stebner has taught
for 16 years in the FUESD, has been the ASB (Leadership) advisor for 9 years, and "history comes alive" in his classroom,
according to Dr. Peterson. He also instills civic responsibility in students, encourages community service, and he served
in the Vietnam war transporting supplies and service men. We congratulate Mr. Stebner for his achievements.
Our Voice of Democracy winners are $500 first place winner
Wade Colburn, $300 second place winner Malary Greenwood, and $200 third place winner Brianna Stofflet. Wade has
participated in this program the past three years and has been in the top two positions each year! Mr. Lutz Zastrow
and Mrs. Linda Poznanter encouraged high school students to participate this year and all three winners did
an excellent job. Our Patriot's Pen (grades 7,
8, & 9) winners were first place Rachel Graef, second place Emily Majewski (both students from Zion Lutheran
School) and third place Jacob Smyth, from Potter Junior High School. Mrs. Fischer and Mrs. Boyd were instumental
in this program for our middle school entries, and we are glad to have had so many entries. Congratulations to
all! Photo #1 Anne Richter, Auxiliary
